Tours 2009 Dietmar Kramer mail: kramer.dietmar@ Dear railway enthusiasts, Enclosed please find the list of steam special workings planned by me for 2009: ERITREA 21.02. - 01.03.2009 I am preparing a tour to Eritrea for February 2009, which will be the third trip that I will have taken to Eritrea. For a start a two train service with steam trains on both levels will be employed by the Devil's Wall. We are going to use particularly the newly overhauled unique 440 008 Mallet locomotive. From the maximum number of 25 participants there are still a few seats to be taken. Reservation deadline: 20.11.2008 Please read the attached file to find out more! TCDD TURKEY 01.05. - 04.05.2009 The TCDD 56 548, a well known Kriegslok design is being overhauled in Izmir. This shall be used on a freight photo charter on the line from Alasehir to Usak in western Turkey. This spectacular line stretches from the sea level to the Anatolian Heights, crossing 20 tunnels and 3 big steel bridges in the course. In the old depot in Usak we are to perform a night photo session along the static 44 071 0-8-0 (Prussian G8) and 46 105 2-8-2 (Robert Stephenson), these locos will have their apearance enchanced by artificial 'steam'. A visit to the very interesting railway museum is to take place in Camlik. With this tour I would like to relate to the numerous trips I took to Turkey in the past. After the last trip in 2002 I had never hoped that TCDD will once again spend money on the costly overhaul of a steam locomotive. Therefore I am not going to let a chance like that to be left unnoticed in this phantastic land, especially if it is to be with a Kriegslok. I expect to receive the detailed programme at the beginning of January. Unbinding bookings are already possible for those interested in the trip. PKP POLAND Standart gauge: I am still waiting for the confirmation of the current status of the Chabówka – Nowy Sacz line. Narrow gauge: I am planning to organise some weekend photo charters on the Gniezno, Gryfice and Znin lines, the last one with Px38.
